Mount Elgon, an ancient extinct volcano straddling Kenya and Uganda at over 4,300m, creates exceptional coffee terroir between 1,600–2,200 MASL. Rich volcanic loam soil, dense rainforest cover, and cool equatorial conditions slow cherry maturation dramatically — building complexity that won both the National Taste of Harvest and the FOEA West of Rift Championship in 2026, with an SCA descriptive score of 94.75.
